Come Fly with Me is a delightful story about the love of flying and a man and woman. Both have to work at to stay in the right direction.
Whitmore's characters are strong personalities. Each is moving in the direction he or she wants his or her lives except Kate Randolph, who is married to a wealthy man much older. She is having problems being alone with her husband out making money.
Kate does have endeavors. She can fly small airplanes and managers a non-profit. The incompleteness of her marriage and the purchase of a Learjet send here in another direction - she wants to qualify to fly the jet, and her husband's pilot is recruited to teach her.
Here is where directions change again for Kate, her husband, and the pilot. However, it is an event in her husband's personal life that intensifies the situation for better or worst depending on what family member you are.
The story has some twists that will surprise the reader. However, all in all, the novel is a well-written love story.

This is a very interesting book. I really enjoyed the parts about learning to fly as my father was a pilot. I had no idea they had to learn so much and was unaware of the dangers he faced when flying for the Flying Tigers into was torn countries bringing life saving supplies . There was one sentence that resonated with me, "Hope is faith holding its hand out in the dark."
I think what I liked best was the little plug for Jimmy Buffett and "Five O'Clock Somewhere" but no, I really enjoyed the whole book. The fact that the author is a pilot herself added a touch of reality to the flying sequences and her descriptions of Santomar made me crave an island visit ! Great job, let's have some more so scurry back to the computer Judith and do another one!
This story is technically well written and is a great flying tale. The heroine type has a load to bear that is only helped by flying and she loves to fly. Her troubles in her life get her mired down into the ugliness of self analysis and she still finds enough time to challenge the air and to defy gravity and it keeps her sane. She has tremendous sadness weigh her down when her older unfaithful husband is exposed and she manages to fly through it all and becomes more and more enamored with her flight instructor. She ultimately makes a tough decision and the reader needs to strap in and fly with her to a solution for all that is problematic for her. Fun read!
It's a pretty good, if somewhat lightweight, tale of romance with just enough flying adventure to hold a guy's attention. The prose is well-crafted, descriptions of sand and surf well-done, and the target audience is probably the ladies but as a pilot myself I read it all the way through and was rewarded with an interesting finish.
The only unrealistic part I thought was the repeated insecurity described as the woman pilot is getting her type rating. But maybe that's how women are? Guys also feel inadequate but react very differently. The author is a woman pilot with a jet type rating so I'll trust her description.
As a woman who is about to become a private pilot, I thoroughly enjoyed Come Fly with Me. Because of the author's vast knowledge of aviation and airplanes, I felt like I was right there in the cockpit taking those lessons in the Learjet and going through the tumult of learning new things in a different type of aircraft. As for the setting, and the lifestyle of Kate..well it's not one I would ever have experienced, but I am certain there are "Kates"out there and some trapped in a marriage similar to Kate's. This is one gutsy lady, and Santomar is my dream home! Makes me smile and think, I could write a novel like this! Hope to see future novels from Judith Whitmore!

These lines from the book, Come Fly With Me, conveyed the mindset of a woman, Kate Randolph, who was torn between accepting then taking charge of her own life. Flying on the wings of love and passion played a major role in this well-written and knowledgable book on flying by Author, Judith Whitmore. The love Kate had for flying and the freedom it allowed, and her love for her husband, Sam, and eventually a true passionate love of Rick Sanders, her flight instructor played well. Rick shared with Kate the beauty of flying and how soaring love can be with a soul mate you were always meant to be with. Come fly with Judith Whitmore for a tale of aviation, planes, and love in all the right exotic places. Well-done, Judith.

Judith Whitmore wrote a wonderful story about a woman named, Kate Randolph. You will fall in love with her. She is in her 30’s and married to Sam Randolph, who is thirty years her senior. While many question such a love; especially his son (Derek), she is definitely in love with him.
While she has all the luxuries money can buy, she is still not as happy as she should be. She feels rather alone. Kate is a very talented woman, and has a lot to offer as a teacher. But, once she married Sam, she stopped teaching. So, she opened a charity for “latch key girls” called Safe Haven…which her husband does not support, even with all of his money.
Kate then meets Rick Sanders, who was an Airline Transport Pilot. Of course, Sam has a Lear Jet, and Rick often serves as the pilot. Kate and Rick meet, and they get the “butterflies”. Yet, Kate is not willing to give up on her marriage.
This story surprised me, as it was chuck full of greatness. I was surprised by how much storyline was in this book, as I truly expected just a love story…But, it was much more than that.
I never got bored with this book, and that says a lot, because stories over 300 pages tend to bore me at some point.
You will love this story…read it by the beach, or outside…I read it on the couch, wishing weather was nice, so I could go lay on my hammock ..
